Biography —
After completing a Master of Fine Arts degree in textile design from the University of Kansas in 1982, Ruth Bowman accepted an instructor position at KU, lecturing on Color Theory from 1988 to 1998. She also worked as an assistant instructor in Screen Printing Textiles in 1986. She is currently an assistant professor in Foundations at KU.
Ruth has enjoyed various successful exhibitions around Kansas and in other parts of the country, including the Kansas Triennial, an exhibition featuring Kansas artists from all over the state in a variety of professional venues. She has also exhibited work nationally at Southern Oregon University, the Cleveland Institute of Art (where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture in 1974), and the Spiva National Crafts Competitive in Joplin, Mo.
Ruth has won various awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Award in Crafts from the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
