Originally from Queens, NY, Marissa Shell is a mixed-media artist whose work explores the transformation and evolution of the contemporary landscape. Through the combination and juxtapositions of synthetic and seemingly natural materials, her work addresses the physicality, plasticity and artifice of the environment, alluding to a speculative and futuristic world following climate change.

She is a Lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts, and also currently teaches at Northwest Missouri State University, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and Missouri Western State University.
