Jenny Welden

My drawing compiles parts of my nested domestic surroundings; they juxtapose imagery from mind, body, soul, home, garden, nature, earth, and space into a busy, non-hierarchical piecework. These mental and visual totems create hybrid landscapes that toggle between embodied and disembodied experiences of the collective unconscious through dreams, space, language, story, and memory. My best imagery often comes while I'm talking on a phone call, singing, dancing to music, or otherwise ground in a sense of immediacy.
