Biography

Eric Couture is a queer, interdisciplinary weaver and designer from Vermont. With an emphasis on the process, historical weaving techniques, archival research, and contemporary weaving technology, they aim to explore the meanings and implications embedded in woven cloth through its production. Their work is about the making, the connections between weaver and product, loom as interface, cloth as body, warmth, and the self. Eric makes objects meant to be used, loved, destroyed, and mended. Eric received their BFA in Graphic Design with a minor in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, VA and in 2024, they were awarded the Student Craft Fellowship in Weaving from Berea College Student Craft.
