Biography

Becky Johnson worked with textiles and fibers. Her research and artwork were a personal and historical inquiry. Using images based on historic records and myths, her figures had a feeling of appearing and disappearing, much like stories that are passed down. She drew inspiration from reading about the past, studying ancient fibers, and re-imagining humans’ roles from ancient history. By using the traditional craft of weaving and felting, by drawing with thread and imbedding imagery within woven structures, her intimate works built on the physical connection all humans have with cloth.
