Biography

While many would say that materialism is destructive to the spirit, I believe that thoughtful objects are an integral part of the human experience. Like this idea of spiritual materialism, my jewelry design manifests through a slew of dualities. As an art form, body adornment is precious, but durable, inherently personal, yet innately public, and on display. I am driven by the beautiful dissonance of these dualities. I embrace opposing realms of design, particularly the commercial and conceptual, and the technological and traditional. Influenced by my background in traditional metalsmithing methods, and my extensive professional experience in Computer Aided Design and 3D printing, I staunchly believe in the power of versatility when it comes to metal craft. With the specificity, intricacy, and freedom of CAD, coupled with my firm grasp and appreciation of the properties and capabilities of precious metals, I can come up with compositions and textures that I would not be able to manifest otherwise—I am able to push the limits of what is traditionally considered possible and appropriate in fine jewelry making.
