Visual Art Scholarship Award Application Form

Application Deadline: Friday, April 5, 2017 by Midnight.

Each year the Department of Visual Art provides scholarships to continuing students majoring in art. This is an important opportunity for students to exhibit their work and possibly earn a scholarship.  Participating students are required to submit a body of work for the jurying process. Submitted artwork will be installed and exhibited in the gallery and on the fourth floor in Chalmers Hall.

Participating students will be assigned a space to display their work at a mandatory meeting (see schedule below). A committee of seven faculty members, one from each studio area will jury the student work displayed in the exhibition and award scholarships for 2017-18. All eligible students are encouraged to participate.

An opening event will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017, 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibition is open to the public and students are encouraged to invite friends and family to the exhibition.  At the same time, graduate and undergrad studios will be open to visitors. In addition, the Ceramics, Textiles, Metalsmithing/Jewelry, Sculpture, and Printmaking studios will be open to feature student work that may not be included in the scholarship competition. Visitors are invited to tour all the studios to see the exceptional quality and variety of creative work being made at KU.

Eligibility requirements for scholarship consideration:

Official major in the Department of Visual Art
Continued, full-time enrollment as a Visual Art major for 2017-18*
3.0 overall GPA**

*If fewer than 12 credit hours are needed to meet graduation requirements, less than full-time enrollment is possible with department approval.
